Val was brought up in Leicester and has always loved the visual arts. She qualified as an Architect at Bristol University and ran a practice for many years in that city before founding the Wye Valley Arts Centre in 1996 when it was a residential adult college. She is now the director of the WVAC and the founder of the Kidzart Charity.
